We love photographing a wedding with a good theme. And Beth and Christian did not disappoint.
Being a big Lord of the Rings fan myself, I was way too excited to be photographing this wedding - and the Wellbeing Farm was the absolute perfect choice to hold such an occasion.
After getting engaged on a wet and windy day on the beach at Robin Hoods Bay whilst on a weekend away with friends, the wedding planning soon began for this pair, and the date of 13th April was set.
It was pretty obvious from my initial meeting with them both that this wedding was going to be both original and fun!
When asking them why they picked Lord of the Rings as a theme, Beth explained that it was something they were both passionate about before they even got together, and it was a passion that grew and brought them closer together as a couple.
I have to agree with Beth & Christian when they say that their choice of wedding venue suited the theme they were going with; the Wellbeing Farm was a perfect choice for them to say 'I do'. The farm is situated up in the hills on the outskirts of Bolton and has amazing panoramic views. It does have a vibe very in-fitting with 'The Shire' and when it had been decorated in the green and brown colour scheme, complete with natural flowers, you really could have just walked onto the set of what could be described as a long-expected party.
To say it was fun to work with both Beth & Christian is an understatement. From the very first meeting we had, it soon became clear that we were on the same page when it came down to ideas and creativity! They were super relaxed about the whole day and I think that really shows in the fun, informal images.
We all got very excited, when an amazing sky presented itself over the Wellbeing Farm and we could not pass up the opportunity to get some epic sword shots!
Throughout the day both Beth & Christian just seemed to go with the flow of their wedding and had fun. They had mentioned to me at the initial meeting that they weren't too comfortable being in front of the camera and so I was conscious of this throughout the day and kept myself tucked away and discreet.
However, as the day progressed, this couple relaxed so much into the day and were on such a massive high, that it soon became apparent that we could also have a lot of fun. And there was a lot of fun to be had. Aside from the overall theme, this wedding had it all including group shots with a couple of Llamas thrown in for good measure!
Both Beth & Christian looked so dapper on the day. Beth always wanted a tea dress as she thought a long dress would have been too much to drag round a farm (particularly in what could have been rainy April). She commented that she was so glad she picked that length, as it was also incredible for dancing in. And there was plenty of dancing!
The food at the Wellbeing Farm was as always, top quality. And lots of it! The fact that tea and coffee is available to help yourself to while I took a break when all the guests had their meal, was invaluable. Never underestimate the power of a brew to spur you on to carry on taking great images! Beth & Christian both commented to us how the staff at the farm made them feel so calm all day.
Amae Cake Boutique absolutely nailed it as always. We are consistently amazed by the talents of this woman and her cakes skills. We have been fortunate enough to photograph a number of weddings now where Amae supplied the wedding cake and once again, the Lord of the Rings cake was superb!
When speaking with Beth after the wedding, I asked her for any final thoughts on their wedding and any advice for people currently in the preparation stages.
'Don't be afraid of using a theme!' was her answer. And I think I have to agree with her.
She added - 'a lot of people thought our theme was a bit out of the box, but afterwards we had so many comments about how our day truly reflected us'.
This wedding was fun, relaxed and totally unique! It was right up our street and we loved every minute of it!
Massive congratulations to you both! xx
