Victoria Baths / Manchester / 21 April 2018
Ben & Darren are simply made for each other
Photographing their wedding day absolutely confirmed this for us and we got so much joy to see the constant smiles, laughs, tears, high fives and hugs throughout the day.
Not to mention some awesome dance moves which sprung into life on the dance floor later on.
This wedding had it all
Firstly, it has to be said - Victoria Baths is just an awesome wedding venue! I mean, where else can you say 'I Do' in the deep end of a stunning Victorian swimming pool? This place has quirky factor by the bucket loads. And it helps makes the most amazing, memorable wedding photographs.
Victoria Baths is a maze of rooms, pools, corridors and changing rooms, each with it's own unique charm and definitely each with it's own great picture opportunities.
But before we even get to the Baths, we'll start with the real stars of the day.. the 2 grooms, Ben & Darren.
There was a strong emphasis on colour throughout the day and these guys both looked so dapper in there gorgeous blue suits.
Add in hints of yellow and you've got a colour scheme that really worked.
Ben and Darren were both getting ready separately in the morning sunshine , in Ancoats, just 10 minutes drive from Victoria Baths.
Whilst Ben was getting ready at home, amidst all the hustle and bustle that the morning of a wedding brings with it (Flowers - check, rings - check, nerves - check, excitement - CHECK!!), Darren was just down the road at a friends apartment with views all over Ancoats, taking deep breaths and getting ready for what was to become a day they will both always remember.
Onto the ceremony..
In short - it looked amazing.
Not only was it super chilled, it was full of character, and tears were echoed around the swimming pool. It was perfect.
After the ceremony, an excited ensemble of guests went off exploring the wonderful quirky rooms dotted around the venue, for drinks and canapes.
With the help of a solid line up of handy groomsmen, the swimming pool was cleared of chairs in minutes (thanks guys!) and soon after everyone dived back into the pool for group shots.
On with the rest of the day, the drinks were flowing and guests carried on exploring the venue. Before we knew it, it was time for food.
And on the menu - PIE!
Top marks on food choices guys. We demolished our food in what felt like seconds and it fuelled us on to document what was later to become a big old party on the dance floor!
But first.. speeches. We love a good speech.. and aww these were sooo good.
Funny, memorable and touching. I wasn't welling up behind my camera.. honest.
Post speeches, we whisked the boys away for some portraits whilst the sun was still shining through the gorgeous stained glass windows.
These guys did not stop laughing throughout and the laughter became infectious to us photographers also.
We wandered into one of the adjacent rooms and snapped away as they both had an intimate dance in an empty pool, as a warm up ready for performing in front of everyone later that night.
After exploring some of the other disused rooms upstairs (all of which make excellent portrait locations) we let our two grooms go back and party.. and they did so in style!
First dance soon came around and these guys certainly owned the dance floor during Kylie & Jason's 'Especially for you' being watched by over 100 smiling, happy faces.
This was the kind of wedding where guests didn't need much encouragement to jump on the dance floor - it was full straight away!
We stuck around and got some pictures as moves were being pulled out of the bag everywhere we turned.
The whole day went by in a whirlwind, and it soon became time for us to give our hugs, and say our goodbyes.
We left this wonderful, crazy happy pair and all of their guests to party the night away (until 3am in Tribeca I here?!)
More weddings like this please! xx
